Sources: Van Bergen undergoing Middlesbrough medical after bid accepted

Middlesbrough have agreed a fee with Heerenveen for the signing of winger Mitchell Van Bergen, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

This site revealed on Wednesday (18th August) that the Championship outfit had tabled a second bid for the 21-year-old after their opening offer was rejected.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Boro have now reached an agreement with Heerenveen and Van Bergen is booked in for a medical this weekend.

He has been granted permission to discuss personal terms with the Championship outfit and finalise the deal.

Netherlands under-21 international Van Bergen was due to be out of contract at Heerenveen at the end of this season.

The winger, who signed from Vitesse in 2018, can operate on both flanks but is primarily a right-sided player.
