Sources: West Ham braced for bidding war with Man United over signing Arouna Sangante

Premier League clubs are set to join West Ham and Nottingham Forest in the summer race for Le Havre sensation Arouna Sangante, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider has revealed that Forest and the Irons made deadline-day moves for the 21-year-old which were rebuffed by the Ligue 1 side.

Le Havre were only willing to let Sangante leave permanently, but the offers that arrived were for a potential loan agreement.

He is one of the hottest properties in French football and is being tracked by Europe’s elite sides after catching the eye since his senior breakthrough.

The Senegalese centre-back, who can also play at right-back, will now continue his development in France ahead of a potential big-money move later this year.

Football Insider revealed in November 2023 that Man United, Man City and Chelsea – as well as European giants Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan – are all tracking Sangante.

The sensation is the captain at Le Havre and is the youngest skipper in the French top flight.

His contract with the Normandy side, which was renewed last year (2023), is set to run until June 2026.

West Ham

Sangante has made 17 appearances across all competitions this term after helping his boyhood club to promotion in the 2022-23 campaign.

West Ham currently have the likes of Konstantinos Mavropanos, Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma to call on at centre-back.
