Sources: Wolves confident of beating Everton to Guedes signing as part-exchange discussed
Wolves are confident of beating Everton to the signing of Valencia forward Goncalo Guedes following early talks, Football Insider understands.
This site revealed in March the Midlands giants are plotting a summer move for the Portugal winger, 24, as they target forward reinforcements.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider Wolves have discussed offering Patrick Cutrone in part exchange for Guedes.
It is understood Everton have joined their Premier League rivals in the hunt for the 22-cap attacker.
However, the Midlands giants are in pole position, partly due to their links with super-agent Jorge Mendes.
The versatile forward is on the books of Mendes’ Gestifute agency and the transfer facilitator also has strong links to Valencia.
As such, Guedes could become the first signing under the new manager at Molineux.
The Portuguese star is naturally a left-winger but can play all across the front line, including as a centre-forward.
He scored seven goals and contributed seven assists in 34 appearances across all competitions for Valencia during the 2020/21 campaign.
A graduate of the Benfica academy, Guedes joined PSG in January 2017 for £25.9million (€30million).
However, he made just 13 appearances for the French giants before he was shipped on loan to Valencia in September.
A successful temporary spell at the Estadio Mestalla saw Valencia turn his stay permanent for a reported £34.5million (€40million) in 2018.
His performances have caught the eye of Wolves scouts and discussions have taken place over a part exchange involving Cutrone.
The 23-year-old joined Valencia on loan in January and played seven times.
In other news, Wolves are readying a move to hire former Championship manager.
