Southampton fans: Russell Martin ‘is getting sacked’ after Man United whipping
Southampton fans have called for Russell Martin to be fired after the Saints suffered their fourth consecutive defeat of the season in the Premier League.
The Saints were beaten 3-0 at St Mary’s by Man United courtesy of goals from Mathijs De Ligt, Marcus Rashford, and Alejandro Garnacho, despite Southampton dominating the opening half-hour.
Cameron Archer saw his penalty saved at 0-0 which proved to be a turning point in the game, with the Saints being unable to get back into the game in the second half.
Martin’s side ended up finishing the game with 10 men after Jack Stephens was sent off for a reckless challenge, taking things from bad to worse.
The defeat left the Saints in the relegation zone after failing to pick up a point so far this season.
Southampton have also managed to only score a single goal in this campaign, leading to question marks over Martin’s attacking style of play.

Martin has struggled to adjust to life as a Premier League manager, having lost to Man United, Brentford, Nottingham Forest, and Newcastle so far.
Some fans have questioned whether he has what it takes to compete in the top flight if he’s not willing to adjust his style.
After suffering another defeat, several fans have now started questioning how long Martin will be in charge of the club.
