Southampton submitting new £20m+ Fabio Carvalho offer – sources
Southampton are preparing a new and improved bid for Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho, sources have told Football Insider.
The Saints had their initial £15million bid rejected by Liverpool, who see Carvalho as having a first-team role this season.
Carvalho has starred in pre-season for the Premier League giants, with Arne Slot giving him opportunities to impress.
Southampton aren’t giving up on the 21-year-old, and they are hoping a bid of around £20million plus add-ons could be accepted by Liverpool.
Russell Martin is looking to bolster his squad ahead of Southampton’s return to the Premier League.
The Saints will face competition in trying to sign the forward as teams from England and overseas are queuing up to take him on loan.
Southampton could offer Fabio Carvalho regular first-team football
The Portuguese star is under contract at Liverpool until 2027, putting the Premier League giants in a commanding negotiating position.
However, Carvalho has only made 21 appearances since he made the move to Anfield in 2022.
The attacking midfielder spent last season on loan at RB Leipzig and then Hull City, where he experienced more regular football.
Carvalho scored nine goals in 20 appearances in the Championship, but the Saints could offer him more regular football in the Premier League.

Carvalho isn’t the only midfielder that the Saints are in the market for, as the club are also in the market for Matt O’Riley.
Football Insider revealed the Saints are preparing a second bid for the in-demand Celtic midfielder.
