Spotted: Caixinha recalls Rangers discard in stunning move
By James Black
Rangers striker Kenny Miller has been spotted training with the Gers’ first-team squad after he was being banished to the Under-20’s following a reported bust-up with manager Pedro Caixinha.
The Daily Record claimed that the 37-year-old was discarded from Caixinha’s squad to face Hamilton last week as he was axed to the youth team, missing the Gers’ 4-1 win over Martin Canning’s Accies.
Instead, Miller travelled with the Under-20 side and started in the 5-2 win over Brentford B at the London side’s Jersey Road training ground.
However in a stunning turn of events, Miller was photographed training with Caixinha’s first-team squad after being recalled to the senior squad, as he put them through their paces on Wednesday morning at the club’s Auchenhowie training complex.
The images, which appeared on Rangers official website show Miller training alongside first-team stars such as Carlos Pena.
The veteran striker was reportedly dropped after leaking details of a post-match de-brief, after the Old Firm loss to Celtic, which appeared in the Daily Record.
Caixinha has refused to be drawn on the reason Miller wasn’t part of his squad for the Scottish Premiership clash with Hamilton.
It’s unclear whether the veteran was part of the party travelling to Canada for the now-cancelled Eusebio Cup clash with Benfica in Hamilton, Ontario.
The Gers will now play Morton in a hastily arranged closed-doors game at Auchenhowie on Saturday before returning to competitive action against St. Johnstone on October 13th.
Miller recently signed an new contract at Ibrox which keeps him at the club until the end of the season.
In recent months, he has been helping Graeme Murty’s staff with the Under-20 squad as he works towards completing his coaching badges.
