23-yr-old demands £150,000-a-week to become Tottenham’s highest paid player – report

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has demanded £150,000-a-week wages in order to join fellow Premier League club Tottenham, according to a recent report.

The Mirror has revealed that the 23-year-old wants wages higher than Spurs’ captain Hugo Lloris and goal-machine Harry Kane.

The newspaper reports on their website that Mauricio Pochettino is not willing to pay the England international more than the club’s star duo, who earn around £120,000-a-week each.

It is said that the wage asking price adds further problems to the transfer as the Toffees have already slapped a staggering £50 million price tag on the 22-cap England international.

According to the report the north London club believe Barkley to be worth nearer to £15 million, and are not prepared to pay the extortionate asking fee.

Pochettino has been keeping his eye out for Barkley alternatives, and is keen on Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Christian Pulisic instead.

Barkley came through the ranks of the Everton academy before coming a permanent addition at Goodison Park in 2011.

Since joining the Merseyside club the playmaker has made 179 appearances where he scored 27 goals and provided a further 28 assists throughout all competitions.

The attacker was left out of Ronald Koeman’s squad which jetted to Africa for a pre-season friendly, and will not be included in the squad to face Holland outfit FC Twente and Belgian club Genk later in the week.

He now needs to make sure he doesn’t price himself out of a move from Goodison and leave himself in limbo for the new season.
