Stan Collymore urges Liverpool to bring in new players after Bayern Munich friendly
By Harvey Byrne
Stan Collymore has urged his old club to buy some new defenders after their demolition of European giants Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening.
The Reds recorded an emphatic 3-0 victory over the Munich based club at the Allianz Arena as the two met in a friendly for the Audi Cup.
The Merseyside giants lined up with Alberto Moreno, Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold in their back line and many were delighted to see the defence keep a clean sheet against the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller and James Rodriguez.
However, there are still some doubts over the defence going into the new season and after the match outspoken pundit Collymore told his followers via his personal Twitter account that Liverpool should now go out and add some new defenders to their squad in order to keep the momentum up.
Liverpool have been linked with Southampton star Virgil van Dijk throughout the summer and on Monday the Liverpool Echo claimed that he was set for showdown talks with manager Mauricio Pellegrino this week.
Meanwhile, left-back Andrew Robertson has also been added to Jurgen Klopp’s side this season and fans will be hoping that those already at the club can make vast improvements from previous campaigns.
In other Liverpool news, Everton will battle the Reds for this Bundesliga wonderkid.
