’Steady Eddie’ – Collymore delivers verdict on defender reportedly set for Liverpool medical

By Derek Smithson

Stan Collymore has described Hull defender Andrew Robertson as a “steady Eddie” ahead of a reported switch to Liverpool.

Sky Sports claim that the 23-year-old will undergo a medical on Thursday with the Reds after a £10million fee was agreed between the two clubs.

He suffered relegation from the top flight last season with Hull, but was regarded as one of their outstanding players.

The Scotland international is set to link up with Jurgen Klopp’s side and fill the left-back spot, which versatile ace James Milner covered for much of last year.

Collymore has revealed the he is pleased with the imminent arrival of Robertson and feel his reliability is a key strength.

“I like him. Steady Eddie, rarely going to be above or below a 7/10, just what the Redmen need,” Collymore wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Robertson is recognised as an attack minded left-back and has brilliant delivery from the wide area.

The full-back will be hoping to cement a position at Anfield and the left-back area is certainly up for grabs, with the future of unreliable Spaniard Alberto Moreno also unclear.

He has 57 appearances in the Premier League under his belt and has 12 assists in return.

Robertson will now be making the huge step up to Anfield and will have the pressure of competing at the top-end of the table, with the added bonus of Champions League football.
