Stefan Bajcetic: ‘Huge’ Liverpool news emerges from sources
Liverpool may not have to sign a new defensive midfielder this summer as “huge” talent Stefan Bajcetic is set to play a big role under Arne Slot, sources have told Football Insider.
Bajcetic, 19, is regarded as a potential world-beater at Anfield and, despite a year of injury hell, the club retain high hopes for his development.
It is said by sources that, with Slot coming in to replace Jurgen Klopp this summer, the forgotten midfielder is in line to play a key role in the team.
Should he emerge as a key player under the new boss, the need to sign a new number six may well be eased.
One school of thought inside Anfield is that Bajcetic has the skill-set to be the main alternative to Wataru Endo, the first choice defensive midfielder for much of the current season.

After breaking through into the first team last year, Bajcetic was widely touted as a massive player for the future, but injury issues slowed his development slightly.
The Spaniard has made just three appearances across all competitions this season, having suffered from recurring issues since picking up a calf injury in September 2023.
Despite this, he remains one of the most highly-regarded young players at Anfield alongside the likes of Harvey Elliott, Jarrell Quansah and Conor Bradley.
Football Insider reported on 19 February that Liverpool will look to sign Palmeiras teenager Luis Guilherme this summer, adding to what is already a young core of players.

Bajcetic’s value rocketed despite his lack of involvement this season, given how impressive he had been when playing regularly, and a return under Slot could see that value increase even further.
If he can continue on that upward trajectory after returning from injury, while impressing the new boss in the process, Bajcetic could relieve the need for further investment in midfield.
In other news, Manchester United fans were stunned by what Jamie Carragher said about Ten Hag.
