Steve Bruce admits this Aston Villa player ‘will need a break’
By Laura O’Leary
Steve Bruce has revealed that Keinan Davis is in need of a break after a couple of months packed with games.
In an interview with the Birmingham Mail, Bruce revealed that there is understanding between the club and current England U-20 boss regarding the star.
Davis is currently on standby for international duty with the England U-20, who are set to travel to Germany.
He said: “There are not many players at Under-20 level who are playing week-in, week-out for a club of our size. He will need a break.”
Bruce is aiming to protect the player due to the hectic schedule he has had, especially with the striker nursing a knock.
The 19-year-old has played 14 times this season across all competitions for the Villans, scoring two goals and registering two assists.
Davies also made a single appearance in the Premier League 2 this season, grabbing a goal in that game.
The highly-rated striker has been in Villa’s youth system since December 2015, after moving to the club from Biggleswade Town.
Davis started his career at Stevenage and featured in their U-18s team.
The youngster has been drawing a lot of interest this season, with several Premier League teams interested, such as Huddersfield, Bournemouth and West Brom according to reports.
It is reported that the youngster is only on £2,000 a week and is yet to agree to a new deal.
