Sven Botman sends five-word message after Newcastle injury blow

Sven Botman has issued a five-word message to Newcastle United supporters after he made his return from injury against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Magpies defeated Ange Postecoglou’s side 2-1 on Saturday (4 January) to mount the pressure on those in the top four of the Premier League.

However, it marked a particularly emotional and important day for Botman after being out of action for almost a full year after tearing his ACL back in March during the FA Cup quarter-final against Man City.

Newcastle fans were pleased to see the 24-year-old back in the starting lineup as he partnered Dan Burn in central defence.

Unfortunately, the game ended up in disappointing fashion when Botman went down injured and had to be replaced by Lloyd Kelly during added time in the second half.

Botman took to Instagram to send fans a message about what his return meant to him though as he said, “Anything for this feeling again.”

Newcastle will want to have Sven Botman’s services full-time

Eddie Howe’s team are on a positive run of form currently after winning six games in a row in all competitions.

Newcastle have climbed up the Premier League table in recent weeks and currently sit fifth, just a point behind Chelsea.

Botman’s return from injury was a welcome boost for Howe as he continues to try guide the Magpies into European football next season.

It remains to be seen whether or not Botman will be able to return from his recent setback to continue appearing in the team.
