'Sloppy and lazy' – Tam McManus singles out Celtic star for criticism after win v Partick
BBC Pundit Tam McManus wasn’t at all impressed with Celtic centre-back Jozo Simunovic’s performance against Partick Thistle.
The Bosnian was culpable for Partick’s first goal, his backpass letting in Kris Doolan who finished in style. He could also have done better for the second goal, when he was easily turned by Conor Sammon.
His performance was very poor and he may well find himself dropped from the first team for the second time this season.
“Simunovic confidence looks totally gone sloppy and lazy at the 1st Thistle goal and bullied off Sammon for the 2nd” McManus said, as quoted by his personal Twitter account.
“Mad how Celtic are hanging on a wee bit after looking like could win by 5 or 6. All credit to Thistle though dug in after a horror start but the error lets them in.”
The Hoops ended up hanging on for a 3-2 victory, with James Forrest the hat-trick hero. Forrest is having the best season of his career, and he is now on 16 goals for the season, only one behind top scorer Scott Sinclair.
The Bhoys started the game in blistering style, with Forrest scoring twice in the opening ten minutes of the game, but the expected hammering didn’t materialise and the Scottish Premiership league leaders limped their way to victory.
The Hoops will find out who they will face in the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup when the draw is made following the Aberdeen v Dundee United game on Sunday.
The Bhoys will have to up their game for their next game, the Europa League last 32 first leg tie against Zenit on Thursday.
