Tarkowski move to West Ham ‘set in stone’ after source update – Campbell

Burnley defender James Tarkowski’s move to West Ham is “set in stone” this summer.

That is the view of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 28-year-old’s future at Turf Moor.

This site revealed on 14 June that the centre-half is “very keen” on a move to the London Stadium after David Moyes’s side registered their interest in acquiring his services.

West Ham failed in a £30million for the England international last year and he has remained one of their top defensive targets.

Tarkowski will enter the final 12 months of his contract with the Clarets next month and it is highly unlikely he will sign a new deal.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Tarkowski’s future, Campbell said: “I think that one is probably set in stone.

“Moyes will strengthen that West Ham backline. He knows if he wants to stay up in those European spaces that he needs to get his defence right.

“I think it was the defence which let them down towards the end of last season because in a number of games they were free-scoring. They look fantastic in attack but they conceded silly goals in big moments. The Arsenal game is a prime example.

“Tarkowski would be a great signing and I think the time has come for him to leave Burnley. He would be a stabilising force back there for West Ham.”
