Thomas Christiansen sends Twitter message to Leeds fans after Thursday appointment

Manager Thomas Christiansen has sent his first Twitter message to Leeds fans following his appointment on Thursday afternoon.

The 44-year-old was announced new the boss of the Yorkshire giants following the departure of last summer appointment Garry Monk in May.

He has no prior history of England in either his playing or managerial career, but his appointment has brought some excitement back to the Elland Road fan base.

Now, on Thursday following the club’s announcement Christian himself shared his delight via is personal Twitter account, stating that “it is an honour” to work for a team such as Leeds.

Christiansen started his managerial career with Cypriot top-flight side AEK Larnaca before leaving for Cyprus giants APOEL after two years.

He helped lift the Cypriot First Division title in his solo season while also finishing as runners-up in the Cypriot Cup, be he departed from the club mutually in May.

Now, after becoming Leeds’ seventh manager in just three years he and the club’s supporters will be hoping for more stability.

The Demark-born former Spain international also enjoyed a colourful playing career, which saw him on the books of such clubs as Barcelona, Villarreal and Hannover 96.
