Thomas Partey reacts to Declan Rice announcement at Arsenal
Arsenal’s latest announcement on social media regarding Declan Rice caught the attention of teammate Thomas Partey.
The 32-year-old midfielder played a key role for the Gunners last season, making 52 appearances across all competitions, and even boasting six goal contributions in the Premier League.
Football Insider understood, as recently as last month, that Arsenal were close to agreeing to a new deal with Partey, but no advancements have yet been made in the star’s situation and they are still yet to get it over the line.

He is set to become a free agent at the end of June, and many supporters are becoming concerned over his future, with Barcelona now being linked with a hijack-move this summer.
Despite the ongoing speculation, the Ghana international has continued professionally, even showing support for his teammates at the Emirates Stadium.
Declan Rice nominated for new award at Arsenal
Taking to Instagram (20 June), the official club account wrote: “Recognised for a stellar season. Declan Rice has been nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award,” gaining a like from Partey.
Mikel Arteta requires silverware as Arsenal stars conquer awards
Football Insider verdict
Multiple stars continue to be nominated for awards, but with no silverware being won by the team last season, Mikel Arteta is under serious pressure from Arsenal fans ahead of next term.
The Gunners’ last trophy lift was the 2019/20 FA Cup, beating Chelsea in the final at Wembley Stadium thanks to a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang brace.
Of course, Arteta’s side did put up a decent fight in the Premier League title race, eventually finishing 10 points behind Liverpool, and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The defence was strong, even with Gabriel Magalhaes sidelined through injury, but it was Arsenal’s attack where the team fell apart, with no recognised centre-forward available in the second half of the campaign.
Mikel Merino was trusted to adapt through the middle, and even having notched nine goals and five assists in 44 matches, the Spaniard midfielder should not be seen as a long-term fix.
Viktor Gyokeres, Ollie Watkins, and Benjamin Sesko have all been mentioned as potential targets, though no moves have been made to secure one of their signatures for next season.
