Pretty much everything about the Mexican striker’s move to Ibrox has been a disaster and it would be best for everyone if Rangers and Herrera went their separate ways.
On paper, Herrera looked like a solid signing by Caixinha but his insistence in not actually playing the Mexican international was baffling.
Caixinha must have seen something in Herrera that made him splash out and bring the striker to Scotland but to then not give him a chance in the first-team beyond a brief cameo off the bench has left Herrera fighting to have any kind of future at Ibrox.
Herrera carries the dubious honour of being the most used substitute in the Scottish Premiership this season so far.
