£26,000-a-wk player a complete liability: Three Rangers players Gerrard must boot out of Ibrox
COMMENT
Rangers announced that Steven Gerrard will be their new manager on Friday and that sets up what is bound to be the most exciting summer transfer window that Govan has witnessed in a long, long time.
Gerrard has already been linked with players from south of the border while director of football Mark Allen still appears to have a lot of control over transfers with Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor widely reported to be on their way to Ibrox.
Although Allen appears to be the one who works on the deals, Gerrard will surely have a massive say in who he wants to stay, who he wants to sign and who he wants to sell.
Pedro Caixinha signed a lot of rubbish last summer.
If it wasn’t for Allen and Graeme Murty’s overhaul in January, there’s every chance that Rangers would be below Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership table and all hopes of second place gone out of the window.
The side’s form has dropped off a lot since then but there’s still some encouraging signs shown by Allen.
Nevertheless, Gerrard must pick and choose who he wants gone in the summer. It will free up squad space and more importantly, free up some of the club’s wage bill.
Here, Football Insider looks at three Rangers players that Gerrard must boot out of Ibrox as soon as possible.
