Shelvey has had a very hit-and-miss season for Newcastle so far, but his display against the Red Devils was of the highest calibre.
He was strong in the tackle, dominant in possession and showed off his wide range of passing abilities to continually threaten the back line of the visitors.
This is the Shelvey that the Magpies need to see week in, week out if he is to warrant his place in the starting XI and after faltering in recent weeks, which saw him drop out the line up, he looks like he is back to his best.
