25-year-old must be axed: Three things learned about Tottenham in win v Bournemouth
Son not the one – must be axed
With regular left back Ben Davies ruled out of Saturday’s clash, Mauricio Pochettino turned to South Korean international Heung-min Son to fill in at left wing back.
It is something that the manager has tried before, but once again it just did not work out, and he should not be in the side when the Welsh international returns.
While Son offers a competent attacking threat, he was targeted by Bournemouth as a weak point defensively, and it showed.
He just did not show the positional awareness to prevent the Cherries’ attacks as far up the field as Spurs would have liked, with Vertonghen putting in an impressive shift at the back.
When Danny Rose returns, there will be some proper competition at left back, and if Davies recovers from illness, then Son must be axed.
In other Tottenham news, the club are one of a host of sides named in the hunt for the PL contract rebel.
