Times: Liverpool 24-year-old in line for shock recall against Sevilla, set for run of games
By Aramide Oladipo
Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius is set for a shock recall to the starting lineup in the Champions League match against La Liga side Sevilla in midweek, according to a report.
The Times claims that the 24-year-old could be the preferred choice between the sticks for the Merseyside club on Wednesday evening at Anfield, and he could potentially retain his place throughout the rest of the Champions League campaign.
The German has only made one appearance for the Reds this season and it came in the emphatic 4-0 home Premier League victory against rivals Arsenal.
Although Liverpool strolled to a comfortable result, Karius produced some nervous moments throughout the match and appeared to cause some groans from the Anfield faithful.
The German shot-stopper has still not featured in a Champions League match during his short career.
The decision to drop first-choice goalkeeper Simon Mignolet might come as a surprise to both the player and supporters alike as the Belgian has performed well at the start of the new campaign.
Although he conceded five goals this past weekend against Manchester City, Mignolet still produced a string of fine saves to keep the scoreline down.
Karius has kept a total of seven clean sheets in 17 appearances since securing a permanent move to the Reds last season.
