Todd Cantwell tipped for Rangers return after what Hutton has just seen

Todd Cantwell has to return to the Rangers starting lineup for their European tie.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton urged the players to “right the wrong” of their opening day loss to Kilmarnock.

The Light Blues fell to a 1-0 defeat in the first game of their Scottish Premiership campaign at Rugby Park on Saturday (5 August) just days before they face Servette in the third round of Champions League qualifying.

The opening fixture kicks off at Ibrox on Wednesday (9 August) where the Gers will be hoping to take a healthy lead to Sweden for the second leg next week.

When asked if he is more worried about the European fixture after the defeat at the weekend, Hutton told Football Insider:I think at Ibrox it will be different, they will set up differently.

I think Cantwell will come back in, they will be able to move the ball around a lot quicker, the pitch is bigger, the home advantage as well.

I think it will be slightly different but there is always that pressure building. Rangers have to put in a good performance.

Rangers

Sometimes as a footballer there is nothing better than getting back onto the pitch as soon as possible and right that wrong.

They will be feeling the pressure already but that is something they will have to deal with. Michael Beale will be looking for a much improved performance.”
