Tony Xia posts Twitter message to Aston Villa fans

Dr Tony Xia has told supporters on Twitter that it’s just the “beginning of the beginning” at Aston Villa.

The Midlands giants are currently languishing in the bottom half of the Championship this season, despite real ambitions of promotion before a ball was kicked.

They are 14th-placed in the league table and will have to make up 13 points if they are to achieve a late dash for the play-off places.

Outspoke Villa owner Xia has claimed on his personal Twitter account that it’s only the beginning for the club as he looks to re-build them following their relegation from the Premier League.

Villa were relegated from the top-flight last season with an embarrassing total of 17 points, with just three wins to their name all season.

Chinese businessman Xix purchased the club in the summer and is keen to get them back to the top level of football.

The owner has already parted with summer appointment Roberto Di Matteo and currently has Steve Bruce as the club’s first-team manager.

The current boss has great experience of successful promotion campaign and was given the financial backing by the club in January to bolster his squad.

Bruce improved his options during the window as Sam Johnstone, Henri Lansbury, Birkir Bjarnason, James Bree, Jacob Bedeau, Neil Taylor, Scott Hogan and Conor Hourihane all moved to the club.

In other Aston Villa news, the club are in a four-horse race to sign a young forward.
