Celtic transfer latest: 28-year-old in talks about move

By Amir Mir

Hibernian manager Neil Lennon has revealed that talks are “ongoing” about signing Celtic player Efe Ambrose.

Former Hoops midfielder, Lennon will be managing in the top-flight next season after helping his club earn promotion to the Scottish Premiership.

Centre-back Ambrose, 28, has been integral to the success after he moved to Easter Road from Parkhead as a March emergency loan.

As Hibs prepare for a return to the top-flight, Speaking to BT Sports on Tuesday evening, this is what he told the broadcaster’s official Periscope account.

“We have got talks with Ambrose ongoing,” Lennon told BT Sports.

Ambrose played only two Champions League qualifying matches under Brendan Rodgers before he moved to Hibs two months ago.

Since moving to the club, he played 12 games in all competitions, including ten Championship matches where he scored one goal.

He started all of those encounters, helping his team secure three clean sheets as they were crowned champions of the second division.

Football Insider verdict:

There is no doubt that Ambrose will be moving on in the summer as he is clearly not part of Rodgers plans or good enough for his team. He will most likely be suited to Hibs where there will be less scrutiny on his performances. They have just earned promotion and will be one of the underdogs upon their return to the Scottish Premiership. Not only that, Ambrose has proven that he has settled in well at Easter Road and will, therefore, prove to be a great addition to their side.
