Tottenham backed to sell Kulusevski & sign top replacement – expert

Tottenham Hotspur could sell Dejan Kulusevski this transfer window to focus on signing a “top-quality” player.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham defender Alan Hutton discussed the potential exit of the 24-year-old.

It has been reported that Aston Villa are interested in signing Kulusevski this summer, which could open the exit doors for him at Spurs.

The Sweden international has been at the club permanently since 2023 and is under contract at Tottenham until 2028.

Kulusevski was a regular under Ange Postecoglou last season, featuring in 36 Premier League fixtures.

The right-winger contributed eight goals and three assists throughout the campaign, but the club could still look to replace him this summer.

Tottenham could look to sign top-four quality player to replace Dejan Kulsevski

Signing an attacker is a high priority for Spurs this summer as the club aims to climb further up the Premier League next season.

Football Insider revealed that Tottenham are in the race to sign Eberechi Eze, and Kulusevski’s departure would provide funds to help with that potential move.

Sometimes I’ve been on the fence with it,” Hutton told Football Insider about his opinion on Kulusevski.

“I watch him, and I go, ‘He is outstanding,’ then other games I’m not so sure.

“Of course, he’s a technically gifted player and a talented player.

“But I’m just thinking to really kick on and be that top four team [that] they want to, I just feel that sometimes he misses a yard of pace.

“If he had that burst of acceleration, I think he would be right up there.

“It could be something that they might look into if they can get a top-quality player coming the other way that they feel is better or can enhance the squad.

“I think it’s something that they will look at.”
