Tottenham backed to sign Sam Johnstone and Christian Eriksen before transfer window opens – expert

John Wenham has backed Tottenham to complete the double signing of Christian Eriksen and Sam Johnstone before the transfer window opens.

Spurs insider Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels, reacted to updates on both players’ futures.

On Sunday (3 April) Football Insider revealed Tottenham are keeping close tabs on Johnstone, 29, and watched him in West Brom’s clash against Birmingham City later that day.

A recruitment source also told this site on Sunday (17 April) that Spurs are keeping tabs on Eriksen, 30, as they plot a stunning free transfer this summer.

Wenham is backing Tottenham to pull off both deals before the transfer window opens on 10 June.

“If we can secure a place in the Champions League as soon as possible, then we can look at signings,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“From 30 May we can look at Sam Johnstone and Christian Eriksen as free signings.

“If we can get them tied up early doors then there are two new players who instantly make us better and we can move on to spend money where we need to.

“These are two deals I would like Tottenham to make and I think they are realistic.

“That would be a good start to the transfer window because I’m sure Conte will want players in as soon as possible.”
