Tottenham chiefs ‘absolutely concerned’ Ange Postecoglou could quit for Liverpool

Tottenham chiefs are worried that Ange Postecoglou could leave to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the club are “absolutely concerned Ange could go” to the Reds following Klopp’s departure at the end of the season.

It is believed that the Australian’s future in N17 could depend on whether Tottenham qualify for the Champions League.

As revealed by Football Insider (14 February), Postecoglou, who has three years left on his Tottenham deal, does not have a release clause in his contract.

Tottenham worried about losing Postecoglou

Regardless, bosses at Spurs, including chairman Daniel Levy, fear he could be tempted by a move to the Premier League giants.

Reports from the 58-year-old’s native country have linked him with the soon-to-be-vacant job at Anfield, but Liverpool have been eyeing up other targets.

They have been widely linked with a move for former Liverpool player and current Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, but as revealed by Football Insider (15 February), they could now lose out to Real Madrid in the race for their first-choice manager.

Postecoglou has been widely hailed for his work during his short spell at the North London side having completely changed their footballing philosophy and style of play.
