Bellingham enjoyed a strong season last term

This summer’s Club World Cup presents the England man with a chance to initially thrive against largely inferior opposition in the group stages.

Wednesday’s opponents, Al Hilal, do boast the likes of former Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic and ex-Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly among their ranks, but Madrid should have more than enough quality to dispose of Simone Inzaghi’s men comfortably.

Madrid’s other two group stage clashes see them take on Mexican outfit Pachuca on 22 June, five days before they lock horns with Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.

The likes of Bellingham should look to utilise their opening fixtures to establish a rich vein of form before facing higher-calibre opponents in the knockout stages.

Madrid will fancy themselves as one of the favourites to win the Club World Cup alongside Premier League duo Manchester City and Chelsea, as well as Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and Champions League winners PSG.
