Tottenham enter hunt for £22m-valued Brazilian forward from Euro giants – report
Tottenham have joined the hunt to sign Ajax star David Neres in January, according to a report.
Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato claims that AC Milan, Juventus, Manchester United and Arsenal are also interested in Neres, 20, however European giants Ajax are not willing to sell the Brazilian forward.
It is understood that journalists in Brazil have started to compare Neres to Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar after hitting the ground running in the Dutch Eredivise after he signed for Ajax in January 2017.
The report adds that the Amsterdam club value the Brazil Under-20 international at being worth £22million.
Neres has been in hot form this season, scoring nine goals and supplying 12 assists in 22 appearances across all competitions.
The wide-forward is now attracting attention from across Europe and AC Milan seem the most keen to sign the ex-Sao Paulo star after sending their scouts to keep close tabs on him.
Football Insider verdict
Tottenham could do with adding some extra depth to their attacking options in January and Neres seems like he could be the perfect buy for Mauricio Pochettino. The Brazilian attacker has been in scintillating form for Ajax and has proven his is able to score goals and supply assists against some of the top sides in the Netherlands including PSV and Feyenoord. He also fits Pochettino’s philosophy too. Spurs need to sign someone youthful to play in attack and Neres is perfect to become that kind of player who can be nurtured into a real star of European football. The comparisons to Neymar are perhaps something that should be taken with a pinch of salt though.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs are favourites to sign this electric Premier League forward in January after his manager made a huge admission about his future.
