Tottenham expert can’t believe latest development – ‘shocking…it is quite incredible’
Alan Hutton has claimed Antonio Conte is “frustrated” with the amount of goals his Tottenham side are conceding.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and Aston Villa defender said Conte’s side need a “better standard of player” in the squad.
The Lilywhites have been struggling since the restart with a 2-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa on Sunday (1 January) coming days after a 2-2 draw with Brentford.
As relayed by FourFourTwo (1 January), Emiliano Buendia’s opener at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium was the 10th time in a row that Spurs have conceded first.
As quoted by Sky Sports after the defeat (1 January), Conte said last season was a “miracle” for his side and said they need more quality players to become title contenders.
When asked what he made of the latest statistic, Hutton told Football Insider correspondent Charlotte Cohen: “When you play the way Antonio Conte plays, he does like to soak up pressure and hit on the counter attack.

“Sometimes if you do that too much then you are giving too many opportunities away and you lose goals. I did see that stat and I thought that is shocking for a team that is aiming for the Champions League.
“It is quite incredible. He looks a frustrated figure at this moment in time. Something needs to change. I think they probably need a better standard of player.“
