Tottenham expert cites ‘£20m’ done deal after source’s update on Sergio Reguilon talks

Tottenham must include an obligation to buy in the terms of a loan deal for Sergio Reguilon this summer.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

As revealed by Football Insider on Tuesday, Sevilla are in advanced talks to re-sign the 25-year-old on a season-long loan.

The left-back has been deemed surplus to requirements by Antonio Conte.

All parties are confident a deal with Sevilla, who sold Bryan Gil to Spurs for a reported £21.6million last summer, will be struck.

However, Wenham insists it would be “pointless” for Spurs to send the Spain international out if there is no permanent exit in the pipeline.

Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild: “Sevilla sold their left-back (Augustinsson) for €4.5million. We need a lot more than that for Reguilon.

“I don’t mind if it’s a loan with an obligation to buy but anything else is pointless us doing. Conte can only dip into (money from) permanent sales that are out of the door.

“Have Sevilla actually got any money or are they going to do the old spin-around trick with money sold down the belt? We need to see the money. They need to cough up.

“They took £20million off us signing Gil last summer. Where’s the money?”

Sevilla have sold the likes of Diego Carlos, Luke de Jong and Alejandro Pozo this summer.

Reguilon is available after falling down the Tottenham pecking order under Conte.

He played 20 times under the Italian manager during the 2021/22 campaign but looks set to be behind Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon ahead of next season.
