Tottenham expert fumes at Djed Spence treatment after latest twist
The continued absence of Tottenham defender Djed Spence was the only negative from Saturday’s 6-2 win over Leicester City.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Spence, 22, has failed to make Tottenham’s last two Premier League matchday squads and has only played one minute of action in all competitions this term.

On 2 September, journalist Dan Kilpatrick quoted Antonio Conte as saying “Djed was an investment of the club. He’s a perfect prospect for Tottenham. But for sure if we want to win we need other signings. I want to be very clear about this.”
Wenham can’t understand why Spence hasn’t been given more game time.
“My only negative from the Leicester game is, is Djed Spence now our fifth-choice right-back?” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“We are now starting players in alternative positions. We have seen Lucas start in front of him. It’s disappointing because he has all the attributes of what Conte would like in a modern full-back.
“For me, it is nothing to do with his age because Sessegnon and Skipp are the same age as him. Skipp and Sessegnon have been described as players Conte trust and they are reliable.
“So I hope it is just something like it is taking time for Spence to adjust to Conte’s system. I think Spence is going to be a fantastic player and he was one of the signings I was most excited about this summer.
“He ticks a lot of boxes in what I like as a fan and in what Conte and Paratici like.

“Hopefully, it’s just a matter of time for Djed and with so many games coming up in October it only requires an injury to Doherty or Royal for him to be right back in the reckoning.
“Hopefully he does play before the next game I am certain he will play in which is the Carabao Cup tie against Nottingham Forest on 7 November.”
