Tottenham expert: Marc Guehi could move for ‘crazy’ fee after Spurs source’s reveal l

Alan Hutton has insisted Marc Guehi would be a good signing for Tottenham due to his “big club” expierence.

But, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs right-back is worried Daniel Levy won’t be willing to spend big on Guehi.

Last week (27 March), sources told this site that the Lilywhites are leading the race to sign the Crystal Palace defender and have shortlisted him as a top target.

Palace are said to value the 22-year-old at between £50-£60million but accept that their asking price will be slashed if they suffer relegation this season.

After graduating from Chelsea’s youth academy, the centre-back struggled for minutes at Stamford Bridge and joined Palace for £18m in 2021 on a five-year deal which runs until 2026.

When asked if Tottenham will be more keen on signing Guehi if Palace are relegated, Hutton told Football Insider:It would definitely make it more likely.

The only fact in that is Chelsea let him go for next to nothing, it was not a huge transfer fee. They buy in all these defenders and then we talk about him being worth £50/£60m, football can be crazy in terms of one season.

Of course if they go down I think it is an area Tottenham will definitely need to strengthen.

I think Guehi has had an excellent season, he seems like a leader to me, he knows what the Premier League is all about.

Tottenham

He has been at a big football club so he is someone that I think would be able to deal with the pressure that comes with playing at Tottenham. I think that could be a good move.

But, is Daniel Levy willing to spend that sort of money? That is the big question.
