Tottenham expert: Nile John could be offered deal amid exit fears
Tottenham may offer Nile John a one-year contract extension amid fresh questions over his future.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On 17 November Alasdair Gold reported Brighton and several foreign clubs are showing interest in signing John, 19.
Wenham would be happy to see the youngster go after an underwhelming start to his 2022-23 campaign.
“Nile John was a player I rated really highly last year,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I watched him this season in multiple Under-21s games and he pops up with moments of absolute magic where he picks up the ball 25 or 30 yards out and just leathers it into the top corner.
“He also has moments of five or ten minutes when he is in games but that’s it, it’s just moments. I don’t want to bash our young players but if there is talk that he wants to go, so be it.
“I am not going to say that the academy is falling apart because he is going or won’t renew. Tottenham will probably offer him another one-year deal on the same terms he is on now.
“He hasn’t done enough to warrant more than that, in my opinion.

“That’s it, if he wants to go then fine.
“The team are rooted to the bottom of the table at the moment and he is playing every game.”
