Tottenham expert turns on Ajax after ‘pathetic’ Steven Bergwijn bid
Ajax’s opening offer for Tottenham winger Steven Bergwijn is “pathetic”.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On Saturday (6 June) The Daily Mail reported Tottenham have rejected an opening £17million bid for Bergwijn, 24.

The Holland international made 32 total appearances in all competitions for Tottenham during the 2021-22 season but scored just four goals.
Wenham hopes a bidding war is sparked for Bergwijn after Ajax’s low opening bid.
“I’m surprised other clubs aren’t coming in for him,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Hopefully they do because that will start a bidding war for him. I want a minimum of £25million for him.
“Ajax offering £17million is pathetic really. They get in the Champions League every year. They spent big on Sebastien Haller last summer.
“Ryan Gravenberch has already been sold, Timber will probably be sold this summer but Ajax will always claim they don’t have any money.
“They make plenty of money selling players, they sold Davinson Sanchez to us for £42million.
“If they want the player it is time they coughed up the money.”

Bergwijn’s last Premier League start for Tottenham came on 23 January in a 2-0 loss to Chelsea.
He was regularly used off the bench in the second half in the 2021-22 season but rarely appeared for more than 15 minutes.
