Tottenham fans react to Juan Foyth display v Rochdale after Savage criticism
Tottenham ran out easy 6-1 winners over Rochdale in the fifth round of the FA Cup, and fans were delighted with the display of young centre-back Juan Foyth.
Since the 20-year-old joined from Estudiantes in the summer for a fee of £12million he’s been limited to run-outs in the cup competitions, with one game in the Champions League.
But fans are impressed with the young enforcer – despite the criticism he received from Robbie Savage on the BT Sport broadcast of the game (Wednesday, BT Sport, 7pm) – who manager Mauricio Pochettino obviously sees as one for the future.
His side ran out 6-1 winners, although Rochdale didn’t go without giving Tottenham another shock after drawing level in the 31st minute.
The score stayed at 1-1 until half-time, when Pochettino’s talk obviously had an effect.
Fernando Llorente came out and scored a second-half hat-trick, Heung-Min Son added another and Kyle-Walker Peters scored Tottenham’s sixth on the night, booking their passage to the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Savage thought that Foyth made too many mistakes, but Tottenham fans think that criticism was undeserved.
