Tottenham idol rejects John Terry’s divisive Harry Kane claim – ‘they’ll be desperate’

Paul Robinson is adamant Harry Kane has “a good chance” of winning trophies at Tottenham in the near future.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one refuted suggestions that they 29-year-old needs to leave north London to win major honours.

Kane is yet to win a trophy in his career, despite scoring 261 goals in 408 appearances for Spurs.

Speaking on beIN SPORTS (24 November), ex-Chelsea and England defender John Terry said Kane has to leave Tottenham if he wants to add trophies to his cabinet.

Kane has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich over the past six months.

His contract with Spurs runs until the end of June 2024.

When asked by Football Insider if Kane would have to leave Spurs in order to win trophies, Robinson said: “No, I think there is a good chance Kane will win a trophy at Spurs so long as Conte stays.

“They are moving in the right direction.

“However, if he wants guaranteed trophies Spurs probably is not the place to be.

“Kane made his intentions clear two transfer windows ago when he tried to get a move to Manchester City. At Man City, you are guaranteed one piece of silverware a year. Bayern Munich would be another.

“At Spurs, there is always potential to win a trophy but not a guarantee. The chances are getting higher and higher at Spurs. A lot depends on Kane’s ambition now. Spurs will be desperate for him to stay.”

In other news, Tottenham have been backed to sign Stefan de Vrij and his teammate in January for ‘next to nothing’.
