Tottenham insider: Markanday has ‘big decision’ over his future next month after repeated snubs
Tottenham youngster Dilan Markanday has a “big decision” to make this month regarding his international future.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Markanday, 20, made his senior Tottenham debut during last Thursday’s 1-0 loss to Vitesse in the Europa Conference League.
He has been in sensational form in the Premier League 2 this season, scoring eight goals in eight games.
Wenham has previously described Markanday as one of the top talents at Hotspur Way.
He also predicts the attacker has a massive international future but warned he has to make a decision quickly.
“There is an interest in watching where his international future lies,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He is eligible to play for India. I have been looking into this and I understand he would have to revoke his English citizenship.
“That would obviously mean he can’t play for England. That’s an issue because he could easily be called up to the England Under 20 squad.
“He can’t keep being overlooked for the next round of international games.
“Markanday is the standout player in the Premier League 2 this season, not just for Tottenham, for every club.
“The guy isn’t a natural striker and he’s scoring high-quality goals in every game.
“He has a big decision to make over where his future lies, that’s for sure.”

Markanday failed to make the bench for Tottenham’s last two games after making his debut.
Spurs are next in action against Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.
In other news, Tottenham are plotting a January raid for a colossus Nuno Espirito Santo tried to sign at Wolves.
