Kieran Maguire issues ‘huge’ claim as Tottenham could now host 2026 World Cup final
Tottenham deserve “huge credit” for their ongoing work to extract as much cash as possible from their state-of-the-art stadium.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest major sporting event that could be headed to the 62,850-seater arena.
As relayed by England Hockey on Wednesday (26 July), Spurs could now host the final of the 2026 men’s Hockey World Cup.
The north London stadium is one of four venues that make up a joint bid from England and Wales to host the tournament.
Spurs captain Harry Kane starred in a promotional supporting the bid.
The stadium also has a lucrative contract to host a minimum of two NFL games per year and has staged blockbuster heavyweight boxing clashes.
Maguire saluted Tottenham for their ambition and business smarts with their world-class home.
“I think you have got to give huge credit to Spurs,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“They have future-proofed their stadium by making it multi-functional. They have also made it so it generates money outside of the football team’s matchdays, such as instances like this.
“This is the way forward. Yes, they are one of the bigger clubs in the Premier League but they still do have a significant gap to bridge in terms of commercial income.
“Spurs’ brand isn’t quite there yet probably because they haven’t won the league for over 60 years now.”

Spurs have yet to release their accounts from their first full season in their new stadium but it is expected that they will show matchday income north of £100million.
Man United and Arsenal are the only other Premier League teams to have also broken the £100m barrier.
