Tottenham likely to revisit move for 23-year-old playmaker this summer – report

Tottenham are “likely to revisit” a move for Everton ace Ross Barkley later in the transfer window, according to a report.
The Mirror claim that Spurs are still interested in signing the 23-year-old playmaker this summer and want to secure a cut-price deal.
It is understood that they are not willing to meet Everton’s £25million valuation of the Englishman, who has just one year remaining on his contract at Goodison Park.
The report details that Barkley is set to leave the Toffees in the summer following the arrival of Davy Klaassen from Ajax, plus the pursuit of Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson.
The Mirror previously reported that Spurs had “cooled their interest” in signing the attacking midfielder, but it appears they could still return with a fresh move later in the window.
Mauricio Pochettino is known to be a keen admirer of Barkley and he has been heavily linked with a move to the north London club.
Barkley is a product of the Everton academy and is most recognised for playing in the number 10 role.
The creative midfielder has now racked up 179 appearances for the Merseyside club and is consider to be one of their most talented individuals.
He made 39 appearances for Ronald Koeman’s side last season, scoring six goals and supplying nine assists in return.

Spurs should still try to secure a deal for Barkley and bargain a cut-price fee as the window progresses. Pochettino could be the perfect man-manager to get the best out of the attacking midfield and he would join a strong English contingent if he joined Spurs. He was destined for greatness when he burst on to the scene as a youngster and has failed to live up to the expectation, but it’s not too late for the 23-year-old to step up another gear. Barkley has been a solid performer over a number of season, but fans grow frustrated as they feel he has not reached his full potential. Spurs could be the perfect destination for him and they should be happy if they can secure a deal anywhere around the £20million mark.
