Tottenham player ratings v West Brom: Kane is not the star man
COMMENT By Harvey Byrne
Football Insider rates the Tottenham players in their 4-0 win against West Brom in the Premier League at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.
Hugo Lloris 6 – He was rarely tested across the 90 minutes, but he was always there when needed.
Eric Dier 6 – Helped his side keep a clean sheet in the back four and helped protect Lloris’ goal well.
Toby Alderweireld 8 – Another top quality performance from the Belgian, who helped his side with some killer through balls up the pitch, while also starring in the back three.
Jan Vertonghen 7 – The centre-back’s ball control is incredible for a defensive player. He was assured in the back three and helped his side keep possession and a clean sheet. Will be a big loss after suffering an injury in the second half.
Kyle Walker 8 – The England international caused numerous problems on the right flank and delivered a number of dangerous balls into the box, including setting up the third.
Moussa Dembele 6 – He was fairly quiet across the match, but he did help form an impressive defensive unit alongside Wanyama and the defensive three.
Victor Wanyama 7 – The Kenyan did little going forward, but was always there to break up West Brom attacks in the centre of the park.
Danny Rose 8 – The attacking full-back was a constant threat down the left flank and was able to win his side numerous set-pieces up the pitch, while ensuring a clean sheet at the back.
Christian Eriksen 9 – Another quality display from the 24-year-old attacker, who was involved in both opening goals. He’s one of many to have flourished in the new formation.
Dele Alli 8 – West Brom struggled to stay with the attacking midfielder across the 90 minutes. He always seemed to be in space when receiving the ball and rarely gave up possession. A brilliant piece of skill from the 20-year-old allowed Kane to slot home the fourth goal.
Harry Kane 8 – The England international worked really well on his own upfront and was in the right position to smash home a hat-trick for his side. He could have hit double figures if not for Ben Foster in the opposition net.
