Tottenham star sends warning message to London rivals
By Amir Mir
Tottenham star Harry Kane has warned London rivals Chelsea that the Premier League title race if far from over.
Antonio Conte’s side currently lead the table by ten points with second-placed Spurs level on points with third-placed Manchester City after 27 matches.
England international Kane will be hoping his team can mount an unlikely comeback and clinch their first ever Premier League title.
But, for the time being, they will have to do it without their star man who is currently sidelined with an ankle injury.
Despite Chelsea leading the table by some distance, Kane has not given up any hope of finishing top of the pack at the end of the campaign.
“We have to keep believing and we have a team who do believe,” Kane told the Daily Star. “As you saw from Barcelona against PSG, anything is possible in football.
“We are in a good position, second in the table but quite a few points behind Chelsea. We have a run of games where we are playing teams around mid-table and in the bottom half, so if we can get some good results, you never know.”
Aside from the Premier League title race, both London clubs also have the opportunity of winning this year’s FA Cup.
Spurs will face Chelsea in the semi-final at Wembley with the winner of that tie set to meet either Manchester City or Arsenal.
The last time Mauricio Pochettino’s side played Conte’s men, the Argentine guided his team to an impressive 2-o win against their rivals at White Hart Lane.
Nonetheless, Pochettino will be hoping his team can continue their unbeaten run on home soil this term when they take on Claude Puel’s Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will travel to Stoke on Saturday in what will be a tricky away fixture for the league leaders.
