Tottenham star Yves Bissouma sent warning by pundit after what he’s spotted

Yves Bissouma can’t afford to pick up as many cards for Tottenham as he did for Brighton.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s debut.

Bissouma made his competitive Tottenham debut during his new side’s opening day Premier League win over Southampton (6 August).

The 25-year-old came on for the final four minutes of the game but marked his debut with a booking.

Bissouma was booked 10 times during the 2021-22 season and Tottenham expert John Wenham told this site on Monday (8 August) he is concerned a suspension may not be far away.

Kenny claims Bissouma was naive to pick up a yellow card so early in his Spurs career.

“Yeah, I saw he got booked, he has probably just got a little bit excited, he’s making his debut for Tottenham,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s a little bit naive but there is no big drama at this stage, for me. It’s not ideal to go on for four minutes and get a yellow card.

“He wants to come on and make an impression and that is fine, sometimes. Don’t charge around and make those tackles that will get you in trouble.

“It’s got him a yellow card, these things happen. It won’t be too much of a big deal for him as long as it doesn’t keep happening.

“He can’t let it become a regular thing or he will be suspended.”

Tottenham

Bissouma joined Tottenham from Brighton and Hove Albion earlier this summer in a deal that Sky Sports claim could be worth £35million.

Tottenham are next in Premier League action against London rivals Chelsea on Sunday (14 August).
