Tottenham tipped to ‘100%’ sign ‘amazing’ Rudiger as Conte make his mark – pundit
Kevin Phillips has claimed Tottenham could tempt Antonio Rudiger to join from Chelsea next summer by offering him a “big pay rise”.
The former Sunderland striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 28-year-old will be enticed by the prospect of working under Antonio Conte again.
As reported by the Independent (8 December), Tottenham are one of the sides chasing Rudiger as he prepares to become a free agent when his Chelsea contract expires next summer.
The report claims Spurs face competition from Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid.
When asked if the defender could make the short trip between the London clubs, Phillips told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “Yeah, definitely – who wouldn’t want to work under Conte?
“I think everyone can see that they are going to be moving forward under him and challenging in the coming years. You can only imagine that good things are going to happen there.
“I can definitely see him going to Tottenham if he doesn’t renew at Chelsea. He’s been amazing this season. It just comes down to whether Spurs give him that big pay rise that he’s demanding.
“He’s definitely warranting it with his performances at the moment. If they can strike a deal with the player, I can 100% see that.”
Rudiger was instrumental as Chelsea won the Champions League last season.
The 49-cap Germany international has started all but one Premier League fixture for Chelsea this term.

Tottenham are unbeaten in four league games since the appointment of Antonio Conte last month.
Spurs sit fifth in the Premier League, just two points adrift of fourth-place West Ham.
In other news, 24-year-old is “100 per cent” planning to quit Tottenham in January.
