Tottenham tipped to complete four new signings after Gold update – pundit

Tottenham could make as many as four signings by the transfer cut-off if they succeed in getting multiple fringe players off their books.

That is the view of former White Hart Lane number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about potential incomings and outgoings in north London.

Antonio Conte has so far been frustrated by a lack of activity at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

According to Football.London‘s Alasdair Gold (17 January), Spurs are working to sign a right wing-back, a centre-midfielder and a striker this month.

Robinson expects the London club to do all of their business “in the last couple of days of the window.”

“I think they will be looking at a right wing-back because [Matt] Doherty will probably be moved on,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“The amount of signings will depend on who leaves. If [Steven] Bergwijn goes, it creates space for another attacking midfielder.

“Cover for Harry Kane is an obvious one. They have needed that for a long time. That is always a difficult sell.

“They will definitely be looking to sign another centre-back given the current players they have in that position. They are not good enough.

“I think we will see up to four signings done in the last couple of days of the window. It frustrates me because the manager has identified where the squad needs to be strengthened. The window has been open for nearly three weeks. Why not get those players in early so you’ve got them for all of the games in January.”
