Tottenham told to complete Dejan Kulusevski deal after £37.5m reveal – pundit

Dejan Kulusevski is worth “every penny” Tottenham must pay to turn his loan move permanent this summer, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 21-year-old has made an immediate impact since joining in January.

As reported by Football.London’s Alasdair Gold on Thursday (17 March), Tottenham have a £29.2million option to buy Kulusevski this summer, although it could be an obligation if certain sporting criteria are met.

The Lilywhites are also set to pay an £8.3million loan fee for his season-and-a-half stay, meaning the total price could add up to £37.5million.

Whelan insisted, after his early performance for Spurs, the winger is well worth the money.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “You’re always looking for that longevity of a player. Someone that’s going to be there consistently.

“We’ve seen a real player that’s gone straight into the side. The one thing is that Antonio Conte knows what he’s buying. What he was bringing into the side and what he was lacking.

“It looks like he has link with Kane and Son straightaway. He’s got a nice balance with them. He’s finding very quickly how they play the game and we’re seeing him getting in some really good forward areas.

“Not only has he got the stature about him, he’s a big lad, he’s strong but he’s got the energy. He likes to get forward and get into those forward areas.

“It takes a little bit of pressure off Son as well. That allows him to link up a little bit more and find those passes. He knows that Kulsevski’s making that forward run.

“If he’s surplus to requirements at Juventus, he’s worth every penny Tottenham are going to pay for him.”

In other news, Football Insider can reveal 50-year-old in regular contact with Daniel Levy would “love” Tottenham job.
