Tottenham told to complete Lo Celso sale after source’s update today – pundit
Noel Whelan has urged Tottenham to offload Giovani Lo Celso this month.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 25-year-old is “average at best” and has “not adjusted to the Premier League” since his arrival in 2020.
Lo Celso took to Instagram (23 January) to insist he is in “100% good physical condition” despite being left out of the matchday squad for Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (24 January) that Antonio Conte has given the green light to offload Lo Celso in the final week of the window.
It is believed Conte has made up his mind on Lo Celso after growing frustrated at his ability to follow tactical instructions and personal preparation for matches and training.
Whelan claimed the decision doesn’t come as a surprise and tipped Tanguy Ndombele to suffer a similar fate.
“That doesn’t surprise me at all,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“He’s not cut it ever since Christian Eriksen left. They were looking for that replacement for Eriksen, and he’s not done anything.
“He’s not adjusted to the Premier League. When he’s played, he’s been average – at best.
“There have been a few managers that have worked with him now, and he’s very rarely been pushing to start in that Tottenham side.
“When you spend that sort of money on a player and he can’t cut it in the Premier League, that’s when you need to cut those sorts of players loose.
“You could probably say that for a few players at Tottenham, Ndombele included.”

Lo Celso has started just twice for Spurs in the Premier League this season.
The left-footer signed for Spurs for a reported £55million.
In other news, we have a ‘huge’ Tottenham transfer update as Conte seals one signing and lines up three more this week.
