Tottenham told to U-turn on Hugo Lloris replacement after update from Italy – Robinson
Paul Robinson has told Tottenham to think twice before making a concrete offer for Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one said the 32-year-old is not a suitable replacement for Hugo Lloris, 35.
Spurs are scouting Europe as they look to identify Lloris’ long-term successor.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (18 November), Antonio Conte’s side are interested in signing Szczesny.
The Poland international has just over 18 months remaining on his contract with Juventus.
When asked by Football Insider if Szczesny would be a welcome addition at Spurs given his ties to Arsenal, Robinson said:
“I would not go anywhere near Szczesny at this stage of his career. He is not the long-term replacement for Lloris.
“Hugo is a top goalkeeper. They need to bring someone in who is of the same quality. Szczesny is not on the same level as Hugo. He is certainly not at the right age and he played for Arsenal!
“Spurs need to be at the top level. They need to bring in players who will improve the side and improve the squad. Szczesny is not going to do that.
“He is not a player who I would want Spurs to bring in.”

Szczesny has been Juventus’ number one since joining the club in July 2017.
He has kept seven clean sheets in 13 games this season.
