Tottenham urged to ‘compromise’ as stadium breach causes ‘huge disruption’ – Kieran Maguire
Tottenham need to reach a compromise with their local council after breaching their stadium rules and causing “disruption”.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Tottenham’s hosting of non-match events.
ESPN reported last Tuesday (7 March) that Tottenham had breached their stadium license that granted them the ability to host musical events at their stadium.

The North London club arranged a fifth date for Beyonce’s upcoming tour, surpassing their quota of six musical events per year granted to them by the local council.
Stadium authorities must submit another application to the local council the host the newly announced Beyonce date.
Tottenham moved into their 62,850-capacity stadium in 2019. and have since agreed long-term deals with the NFL and Formula 1 to host American Football matches and an underground karting track at the venue.
Maguire believes the non-football events will boost the local economy and provide employment but at the cost of causing local residents disruption.
“Spurs have to take into consideration the needs of local residents with regard to the number of times the stadium is available for events,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“There is no doubt that events boost the local economy in terms of benefitting the hospitality sector and providing employment.

“At the same time, there is huge disruption for residents, so the local council has restrictions in terms of the number of times Spurs can utilise the stadium for non-match purposes.
“I’m sure that some form of compromise can be arranged taking into account the needs and wishes of all stakeholders.“
