Sources: Leverkusen tell Aston Villa new Bailey asking price after terms agreed
Aston Villa have been told by Bayer Leverkusen it will cost £35million plus add-ons to sign Leon Bailey, Football Insider can reveal.
The Bundesliga outfit are willing to cash in on the winger, 23, but the English big spenders will need to up their offer.
A Villa source has told Football Insider the club are readying a new bid for Bailey after their initial offer was knocked back.
But they will need to smash their transfer record set just last month to get a deal over the line.
Villa are continuing to push hard on the deal and, as revealed by Football Insider yesterday, they have agreed personal terms with Bailey.
The wide forward is keen to head to the Premier League and join Dean Smith's ambitious side.
Villa's pursuit comes as the Jack Grealish closes in on a move to Man City.
This site broke the news on 28th July that the club captain is set to join City "next week" when he returns from holiday.
Bailey has been targeted as he is a versatile forward capable of operating on both the left and right flanks.
He had an impressive 2020-21 campaign for Villa, scoring 15 goals and supplying 11 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions
